Position Available: Offline Programming Engineer – SolidCAM Specialist.
Industry: Toolmaking for the Thermoforming/packaging industry.
Location: Taunton, Somerset.
Employment Type: Full-Time.
We are a leading manufacturer of precision tooling for the thermoforming and packaging sector, known for delivering high-quality solutions to a global client base. As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Offline Programming Engineer to join our engineering team.
This role is central to our commitment to quality and efficiency, involving the creation of advanced CNC programs using SolidCAM for both 3-axis and 5-axis Heidenhain controlled machining centres. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in offline programming, particularly within high-precision tool making environments, and a desire to contribute to a fast paced, collaborative production setting.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and optimise offline CNC programs using SolidCAM, with a focus on tooling components for thermoforming and packaging applications.
* Program complex components for 3 and 5-axis Heidenhain-controlled CNC machines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
* Collaborate closely with design, production and quality teams to ensure manufacturing requirements are clearly understood and achieved.
* Interpret technical drawings, CAD models and customer specifications with precision and clarity
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including cycle time reduction, toolpath optimisation, and machining strategy refinement
* Ensure programming standards and documentation are consistently maintained
Required Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in offline CNC programming using SolidCAM, ideally within a toolmaking or precision engineering context
* In-depth knowledge of Heidenhain control systems and experience with multi-axis machining (3- and 5-axis)
* Solid understanding of machining techniques, fixture design, cutting tools, and production methods relevant to toolmaking
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawing and 3D CAD data
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work
* Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment

We have a vacancy for CNC Machinist in our Milling / Drilling Department.
To operate various machines and controls: Brother Machine, Haas Machines, Fanuc Robo Drill & Doosan DNM.
Duties to be as follows:
- Operating 3 axis vertical machining centre
- Setting up machines
- Loading programs to machines
- Proving out new programs on the machines
- Checking parts against drawing.
- Following a production scheduler
- Setting machine tooling
- Deburring parts on completion of process
- Laser marking parts on completion of process
Schedule
- 40 Hours per week
- Monday – Friday 6.00am – 2.30pm on an 8-hour shift
- 20 Days holiday per year
- Overtime when available
